Dark Places (extract)

It was only when he tried to view the images that the problems started.

 

At first the images were clear, the landscape picked out in additional hues of red and blue, almost psychedelic, and he flicked forward in time through the images using the arrow keys.  Then he noticed whirring of the laptop fan.  It was in overdrive.  Harvey leaned forward and looked behind his computer to check the vent.  It wasn’t blocked, so he turned back to the screen. 

 

Three minutes and eighteen seconds after sunset.

 

He was looking into Hell.
