Interrogation Room (extract)

The corpse twitched as it was restored to life.  The head snapped from side to side and, for an instant, sparks flew from the open mouth.  Eyelids flickered, revealing rheumy eyes.  Baker saw how livid the scars suddenly became against the pale flesh, the evidence of Hatchet’s handiwork.  He leaned forward, holding his breath against the stench of decay and formaldehyde as he spoke in the corpse’s ear.

‘Who killed you,’ he asked.  ‘Give me a name, just one name and this will be over.’
