The Invisible Girl (extract)

I think I have become invisible.  I dart between the bodies in the crowded passageway without being seen.  No one can see me now, and nobody notices me.  I brush against the leg of a man and he doesn’t see me, although he looks down and rubs his leg, so he must have felt something.  They are policemen, and I recognise their uniforms, the black shirts and trousers and the bright yellow vests.  They came to give a talk to my class at school one day, but I didn’t say anything as mummy told me not to talk to policemen.
